Hot August! So, let’s make some Christmas!

Holy cow, south Texas is hot right now! But its August, right? So I thought a little Christmas might cool us off. I’m teaching a class at Stamp Antonio Arts on Saturday, August 25 – we’ll be making this cute little Christmas Village. Just right for an end table; add to your mantle or even a gift. We will be adding “houses” later in the fall.

The papers are all from Tim Holtz Seasonal Paper Stack. The wood shapes were done by my fab hubby (that you sweetie!). Lots of embossing folders, die cuts, stamping, bling, stickles, glitter & more!

It wouldn’t be Christmas without glitter & bling!

Three little houses just waiting to visit your house!

The class is from 1-4 p.m. $25. All supplies included. Just bring your regular class kit.

Sign up early, class is limited to 10. Hope you see you there!

Christmas in July…time to get started!

Every year I promise myself I’ll start my Christmas cards early. Does it happen? Ha! Nope. At least I’m going to help some folks get started early.

Next Friday, July 20, 1-4 p.m. I’ll be having a Christmas Card Class at Stamp Antonio Arts. $20.00 Class size is limited, so call or come by the store and reserve your spot early.

These four cards will cover everything from Santa, to religious, to bright and sparkly! Easy peasy and hopefully will inspire you to make a little Christmas in July.

Long, neglected blog…

I would try and come up with an exciting, interesting and believable reason why I’ve neglected my blog, but the only reason that is plausible would be wedding planning. But, was that 24/7? Um, no. So sorry my poor little blog…I will try and do better.

In addition to wedding planning, I’ve been trying hard to keep plants alive in the scorching Texas heat. And, not having much luck! We were lucky enough to have family visit for the wedding and it was such fun! Jessica, my niece, will make a great party planner some day. Jess, you rock.

What else is new? Well, I’m teaching more classes at Stamp Antonio. In addition to Tuesday Tag-a-licious (started by the ever talented Jane Smith) I’ll be doing Christmas in July with a card class, special Sunday Tag-a-licious and a really cute pair of Paintbrush Notebooks. Yep, little notebooks made from cheapie paintbrushes. I wish I could take total credit for these, but they were inspired by an article in Pages Magazine.

I will say that starting out, these little darlings weren’t  the easiest  in the world to make, but once I got the hang of how to manipulate the wire, they were easy-peasy. I can see making a bunch of them for little stocking stuffers. They could be personalized or even used for a mini-journal or scrapbook. So much fun.

The class is Saturday, July 14, 1-4 p.m. at Stamp Antonio. $25.00 and you will make two! Complete instructions included so I’ll send you home with all the info to make more.

Friday, July 20, I’ll be teaching a Christmas Card Class. Its never too early to get started. Every year I tell myself I will start my cards in July and August and be finished way before Christmas with a lovely, smug feeling. Hahahahahaha. It never happens! Maybe I can help YOU get a jump on your cards this year.

So, dear blog followers (all 4 of you!), I will try my best to pay more attention here. No promises mind you, but I hope to stop in more frequently.

Hoping everyone has a safe and fun 4th of July. We are starting the week out right with rain! Yay!

Tags for Tuesday, April 3 at Stamp Antonio Arts

This week we will be experimenting with a couple new background techniques. The Grungy Butterfly uses Distress Stains and Paint Dabbers on Kraft Tags. I love, love the new Tim Holtz Butterfly on-the-edge die. I tried a little different idea on coloring the grunge paper using Paint Dabber and Distress Ink. Lots of inky fingers on this one!

The second tag is using the new Graphic 45 Paper, Olde Curiosity Shoppe. This paper is so cool and has a lot of different themes. Even flying pigs! The background (on a manila tag) is the Distress Crackle Paint Resist technique. If any of you have been taking the Tim Holtz online class, you might recognize this technique. Its very cool and I love how the stamps seem to be coming out from under the paint.

Hope you are able to join in the fun. The girlfriends always have a good time at Tuesday tags! Whether with me or Carolyn Cowling (who also teaches on opposite Tuesdays.)

We will also be doing our monthly tag swap after class. Even if you aren’t able to come to class or join in the tag swap, you are most welcome to come to Artist Day Out after our class. Lots of chatting, playing with some art and just having some girl time.

Tuesday Tag-a-licious at Stamp Antonio

This Tuesday we will be making a tag and a tag card (by request). Of course, with Easter just around the corner I had to do some sort of bunny/Easter tag. A lot of cuteness & sparkle (which is hard to see in the picture), a little painting and you’ll end up with a great little card. We will be using lots of Ranger Distress Inks and also markers of your choice. If you have Copics, Marvy or Adirondak please bring them. If you are one of the lucky ones to already have some of the new Distress Markers of course you can bring those as well. I’m still waiting *impatiently* for my set to arrive.

The second tag is all about a Visit to the Library. Where better to find out who you want to be? We will be using an Acrylic Paint Dabber to make a resist background for the tag, as well as Distress Inks. I got my hands on the new Tissue Tape so we will use that as well. Claudine Helmuth’s Sticky Back Canvas will be used for our transfer technique.

Come join the girls for some fun! Class starts at 10:30. Prepare to get inky and messy.

Spring! Its for the birds card class at Stamp Antonio

I decided to bring back my monthly card class at Stamp Antonio Arts – at least for March! Saturday, March 24, from 1-4 p.m. join in and make 4 awesome “springy” bird cards. Perfect for birthday, get well, or just because.

We will use various inks, stains, paints and stamps; as well as vellum, grunge board, die cuts and some interesting techniques.

Give the store a call and come play for a few hours!

ps – Don’t forget Tuesday Tag-a-licious! Will post some pics later.

Tuesday Tags at Stamp Antonio Arts

I have neglected my poor blog long enough! But, I suppose there is a good excuse…I’ve been super busy. Lots of teaching at Stamp Antonio Arts and working on my step-daughter’s wedding in June. I’m also trying to get necklaces & bracelets made for sale on a new website & local stores. Whew!

Anyway…here are two tags I’m teaching tomorrow at our usual tag class. A little Steampunk & some springy butterflies.

The Steampunk tag uses quite a lot of Ranger & Tim Holtz goodness, as well as a new product (new to me anyway)…a 6″x6″ template from The Crafters Workshop. These are pretty nifty and would be great for cardfront backgrounds. I used a coffee-colored acrylic paint with a sponge and love the effect. May be hard to see in the picture.

The butterfly tag uses lots of die cuts from Sizzix and embossing folders from Cuttlebug. Of course I can’t resist using some really pretty BoBunny paper & Tim Holtz goodness.

Feedback is always welcome! Hopefully I will be a bit more diligent in posting.

Have a great week everyone!
